England Reveal Full-Strength Squad for Upcoming T20I Series Against India
England have named their squad for the upcoming T20I series against India, with Harry Brook set to lead the team despite a busy schedule with the Test side.
Brook could be captaining England against India less than two days after finishing a Test match, depending on whether the ongoing series-deciding Test against New Zealand lasts the full five days.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced a 17-player squad for the five-match T20I series against India. Sussex all-rounder James Coles has received his first call-up, while Jos Buttler has retained his place despite a disappointing campaign in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026.
Brook is among six players picked for both the Test and T20I squads, along with Rehan Ahmed, Jofra Archer, Jacob Bethell, and more others. As per the management’s current plans, the workload of fast bowlers would be managed carefully, with some of them not expected to play in back-to-back matches.
England selector Marcus North said the bigger squad has been chosen to give the team more options during a busy international schedule.
“We have selected a larger squad to accommodate the fact that this series begins shortly after the conclusion of the Test series against New Zealand, allowing us to remain flexible,” said the England selector Marcus North.
England’s packed schedule means a number of players could end up playing in different formats this summer, including ODIs against India, The Hundred, and upcoming Test matches.
Sussex all-rounder James Coles has been called up to the England squad for the first time after strong performances in the domestic circuit and several T20 tournaments.
Interestingly, the left-arm spinner was the highest-paid player at the first Hundred auction, joining London Spirit for £390,000.
Meanwhile, England opener Phil Salt is also expected to return for the T20Is after recovering from a finger injury. His availability will be a big boost for the team, as he brings the kind of aggressive batting that can put any opposition under pressure.
