England Lions Secure Convincing Win Over Pakistan Shaheens in Series Opener

England Lions registered a comprehensive win over Pakistan Shaheens in the T20 series opener at Abu Dhabi. Asa Tribe was the most notable performer, as he played a match-winning knock of 64 runs to give England Lions a convincing win by 4 wickets.

Batting first, Pakistan Shaheens had a good start as the captain Shamyl Hussain played confidently from the first over. His ball striking was impressive, as it gave Pakistan an impetus to march towards a good total. Despite losing Maaz Sadaqat and Saad Baig, he kept playing his shots to take the scoreboard forward.

The partnership between Shamyl Hussain and Abdul Samad helped Shaheens to put pressure on England Lions, but they struck back by removing the latter for 21 runs. Shamyl then scored a brilliant fifty with the help of 4 fours and 4 sixes, showcasing his class to play confidently under pressure.

After his dismissal, the Shaheens’ middle order crumbled quickly. As a result, they managed to score just 152 at the end of the first innings, which looked like a below-par total.

The reply of England Lions in the second innings was also disappointing, as they lost the top order cheaply. Akif Javed and Saad Masood bowled beautifully in the Powerplay that helped Shaheens to pick crucial scalps.

However, the arrival of rising star Asa Tribe brought the pressure back on the green shirts. He played a fabulous knock of 64 runs under pressure to stun the Pakistan Shaheens in the second innings. Despite losing the middle order, Asa Tribe showcased his talent by scoring runs steadily from one end.

Due to his remarkable innings, England Lions sealed the chase in the last over for the loss of 6 wickets. With this victory, they will now head into the next fixture with plenty of confidence, as Shaheens will need to come harder to square the series on February 22.
