England Women’s head coach has dismissed all the concerns related to the batting of her team. She acknowledged the mistakes England made in their last game, however, dismissed the notion that the batting department is struggling. She gave the remarks at the pre-match press conference before the India game. She said that forgetting previous matches in tournaments like the World Cup is key to performing better in the upcoming ones.

"Seriously, in a tournament like this, you have to forget about things quite quickly," said England Women’s head coach Charlotte Edwards.

Talking about the India game, she said that the team is excited to take on the challenge tomorrow. She added that players are ready to perform in front of the packed house that will be cheering for the home team.

"It's exciting to be here tomorrow in front of a massive crowd, who I'm sure will be supporting India. There's just this real sense of excitement around our group and not thinking too much about what's happened." said Charlotte Edwards.

When asked about England’s recent batting collapses, the head coach said she is not concerned about them at all.

"I am not concerned. You have days where it doesn't go particularly well. I'm disappointed, probably, that we didn't adapt quick enough, but I'm certainly not concerned. You have got to move on quite quickly in tournament cricket. If you look at South Africa in the first game, they were bowled out for 70 [69] and have played brilliantly since." said Charlotte Edwards.

Speaking about Sophie Ecclestone, who is a lead England spinner, Edwards said that the whole team is proud of her. She expects Sophie to enjoy her cricket again, and do well for the team just like she has always done.

"We're all incredibly proud of Sophie, she obviously had a tough winter and worked through some issues. First and foremost, we wanted Sophie to enjoy her cricket again. It's really evident to see that she's enjoying cricket again.” said Charlotte Edwards.

The head coach then praised the bowling performance of Sophie, which made a huge mark in the game against Sri Lanka.

“She's probably bowling as well as I've ever seen her and that spell against Sri Lanka was unbelievable. I know she's looking forward to playing tomorrow. She's over her illness [that kept her out of the Pakistan game] and really excited to get out there playing again for England." said Charlotte Edwards.

England will now come head-to-head against India on Sunday at Indore. The head coach is confident that her team will bring out its A-game against the home side. It should be noted that India is currently under a lot of pressure, hence facing a rampant team like England would also be a tough challenge for them at Indore.
