Rohit’s Sublime Century Not Enough as England Defeat India to Win ODI Series

Rohit Sharma’s brilliant century was not enough to save India as England won the third and final ODI by 27 runs. The victory at Lords also allowed England to take the series by a decisive margin of 2-1.

England batted first and put up a huge total of 387-3 in their 50 overs. Ben Duckett and Jacob Bethell set the tone with a strong opening stand of 192 runs, giving England complete control early in the innings.

Duckett was the top scorer with 141 from 135 balls, hitting 15 fours and a six. Bethell also played an important knock, scoring 91 off 93 deliveries with 11 fours and two sixes.

Coming in at number 3, Joe Root added 74 from 48 balls, while Jos Buttler provided a late burst with a quick 41 off just 13 deliveries.

India came close while chasing 388 but finished on 360-7. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill kept the chase alive with strong innings, but the rest of the batting order could not do enough to take the team over the line.

Rohit was the standout batter, scoring 138 off 110 balls with the help of 17 fours and five sixes. Gill also played a useful knock of 77, while Kohli added 74 off 60 balls to keep the Indian momentum on track.

However, the middle order of India failed to provide any support, as England kept them under pressure by taking regular wickets. As a result, the visitors managed to score 360 at the end of the innings, handing England a close victory to clinch the ODI series.
