GUWAHATI: England left-arm spinner Linsey Smith's three-wicket haul reduced South Africa Women to their second-lowest score in the fourth match of the ICC Women's World Cup 2025, played on Friday at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium.

England benefited from their choice to field first, bowling South Africa out for 69 runs in 20.4 overs.

Notably, South Africa's previous World Cup low total came against England in Cuttack in 2013.

Linsey Smith made strong efforts with the new ball, ripping into the Proteas' top order.  She dismissed Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits in the second and fourth overs, respectively, both for just five runs.

After early wickets, South Africa was unable to halt the slide. It was further hampered by additional wickets, this time from Nat Sciver-Brunt, who, together with Lauren Bell, destroyed the backbone of the South African batting order.

Sinalo Jafta scored the most for South Africa with 22 off 36 balls, including three fours, in an otherwise poor batting performance.

Linsey Smith shone out in England's all-round bowling performance, taking three wickets in four overs and conceding only seven.  Nat Sciver-Brunt, Sophie Ecclestone, and Charlie Dean each took two wickets.
