Eden Gardens witnessed a nightmare start for the defending champions on 14 February 2026.
Chasing a modest 153, England’s "Bazball" bravado hit a Scottish brick wall as Brandon McMullen and Brad Currie ripped the heart out of the top order.
The "dangerous" Phil Salt (2) was the first to fall, chipping a McMullen delivery straight to cover. Before the dust settled, skipper Jos Buttler (3) followed, slicing a Currie delivery to a back-pedalling McMullen at mid-off.
England sat reeling at 13/2 after just two overs. While Jacob Bethell (30)* counterpunched with a towering six to haul the score to 43/2 by the end of the Powerplay, the damage was done.
After 7, England is on 52/2
