CARDIFF: England captain Harry Brook won the toss and elected to bowl first in Eng vs Ind 2nd ODI at a cloud-covered Sophia Gardens.

With the three-match series on the line following India’s commanding six-wicket victory in the opening fixture at Edgbaston, Brook pointed to the overhead conditions and a distinct green tinge on the pitch as the primary factors behind his decision. 

The English camp is banking on early movement from their pace spearhead, Jofra Archer, to dismantle a formidable Indian top order that made light work of a 259-run chase in Birmingham.

In a major boost for the visitors, Indian skipper Shubman Gill declared himself completely fit after retiring hurt in 1st ODI. Gill confirmed that India would field with one change in the lineup, expressing total confidence in his batters' ability to navigate the tricky opening powerplay.

Faced with a must-win scenario to keep the series alive, England’s decision to chase puts the onus squarely on their bowlers to restrict an in-form Indian batting lineup featuring Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
