Djokovic Predicts Serena Williams Comeback as Tennis World Awaits Her Comeback

The tennis world may soon witness the return of one of the sport’s greatest legends, as Novak Djokovic has hinted that Serena Williams could be preparing for a comeback. His comments have sparked excitement among fans and players, who are eager to see whether the 23-time Grand Slam champion will return to professional competition.

Speaking during the ongoing Indian Wells Masters, Djokovic shared that there is growing belief within the tennis community that Williams might compete again. “I think she’s coming back,” the Serbian star said. While he admitted he has not spoken directly with Williams about it, Djokovic suggested that the general sentiment around the tour is that the American icon may be planning a return, though the details remain uncertain. “Where and how, singles, doubles, we don’t know, and if I’m in her position, I would hide it too,” he added.

Williams has not competed since the US Open 2022, where she exited in the third round. Since then, she stepped away from professional tennis to focus on life outside the sport. However, speculation about a potential comeback began to grow again after reports confirmed she had rejoined the anti-doping testing pool in December, a move that restored her eligibility to compete in official tournaments.

The 44-year-old, now a mother of two, initially dismissed talk of a return but later left the door open during an interview on NBC’s Today show. Her comments saying the possibility was “not a yes or a no”have only fueled further speculation among fans.

Djokovic also suggested that a return at the prestigious Wimbledon Championships could be the perfect stage for Williams. The American legend has enjoyed immense success there, winning the singles title seven times during her remarkable career. He even floated the idea of Williams possibly competing in doubles, perhaps alongside her sister Venus Williams, which he said would be exciting for tennis fans.

Meanwhile, Venus is already competing at Indian Wells after receiving a wild card entry, showing that the Williams name remains active on the tour.

While the tennis world speculates about Serena’s future, Djokovic remains focused on his own campaign at Indian Wells. The Serbian star arrives as the third seed and is aiming to add another title to his collection as he continues to compete at the highest level.

For now, however, one question continues to dominate the tennis conversation: will Serena Williams truly return to the court, and if so, when will fans see the legendary champion compete again?
