Dhaka Capitals cruised past Noakhali Express in a convincing fashion, with Nasir Hossain playing a big knock while chasing a modest target in the second innings. His unbeaten 90 helped the Capitals chase the target in just 14.1 overs, handing Noakhali Express another defeat in the BPL 2026 season. It was a complete performance from Dhaka Capitals, as they remained in control in both innings of the match.
The campaign of Noakhali Express in BPL 2026 has now become very difficult, as they have lost all their matches in the tournament so far. They need a miraculous recovery from here on, otherwise, they are close to being knocked out of the playoff race.
Batting first, Noakhali Express faced similar struggles that they had faced in previous matches. The top order of Noakhali Express went back to the pavilion without making any notable contribution. Both openers, Habibur Rahman Sohan and Soumya Sarkar, looked out of touch against the attack of the Dhaka Capitals.
Maaz Sadaqat, who came out to bat at number three, showcased some fight after the fall of the openers. He took on the bowlers confidently, however, his partners at the other end kept losing their wickets. Due to that, he was also dismissed for 24 runs, courtesy of some smart bowling by Nasir Hossain.
The failure of the top and middle order brought a lot of pressure on the Noakhali Express team. Fortunately, they found a good batting pair in the form of Mohammad Nabi and Haider Ali, who played sensibly to take the team out of trouble.
Both batters used their experience to take the innings forward, bringing some calm to the Noakhali Express batting. Haider Ali looked well set to score his first BPL 2026 fifty, however, a ripper from Abdullah Al Mamun dismissed him for 47 runs.
Mohammad Nabi then launched some big sixes towards the end of the innings, giving Noakhali Express a much-needed impetus. Due to his fighting 42 runs, Noakhali Express managed to score 133 at the end of the first innings. It was certainly a below-par score, as the conditions at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium looked good for batting.
When Dhaka Capitals came out to chase the target, they also endured a terrible start. Both Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Abdullah Al Mamun got out cheaply in the Powerplay, as Hasan Mahmud came up with an attacking bowling spell. The wicket of Rahmanullah Gurbaz was a big blow for Dhaka Capitals, as he is a kind of batter who can score quick runs in the Powerplay.
The early dismissal of Gurbaz and Mamun gave Noakhali a bit of hope, however, the arrival of Nasir Hossain at the crease disrupted their plans. The veteran Bangladesh batter showcased why he is still a top batter in the country. He negated all the pressure by hitting big boundaries in the first six overs. This allowed Dhaka Capitals to get off to a strong start despite losing two early wickets.
Besides Nasir Hossain, Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim also batted confidently in the middle order. He provided strong support to Nasir Hossain, who was striking the ball aggressively to all parts of the ground. Their partnership proved vital for Dhaka Capitals, as it helped the team move closer to the target while maintaining a healthy run rate.
Due to a commanding batting display by Nasir Hossain, Dhaka Capitals completed the chase of 134 runs in just 14.1 overs. The veteran Bangladesh batter remained unbeaten by scoring 90 off just 50 balls, hitting 14 fours and 2 sixes. His knock allowed Dhaka Capitals to win the match by 7 wickets, giving Noakhali another humiliating defeat in the ongoing BPL season.
