Colombia Name World Cup Squad Led by Captain James Rodriguez and Luis Diaz
Colombia coach Nestor Lorenzo named his 26-man World Cup squad on Monday, with James Rodríguez and Luis Díaz as the main stars of the team.
Colombia missed out on the 2022 World Cup in Qatar but are now back for their seventh appearance at the finals. Rodríguez, who finished as the Golden Boot winner at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, will captain an experienced squad that also features Crystal Palace players Daniel Muñoz and Jefferson Lerma.
Colombia earned their place at the FIFA World Cup 2026 by finishing third in the CONMEBOL standings with 28 points from 18 matches.
Díaz and Rodríguez played a key role in the qualifying campaign, helping Colombia edge past Uruguay and Brazil on goal difference. The duo was also part of the side that lost to Argentina in the 2024 Copa America final in Miami.
The Colombian team will first gather for a training camp in Bogota, followed by friendly matches against Costa Rica on June 1 and Jordan on June 7, before starting their Group K campaign against Uzbekistan on June 17.
