Chattogram Royals started the BPL 2026 season on a winning note, as they crushed the Noakhali Express team by 65 runs. The rising Pakistani youngster, Mirza Baig, remained their key performer by hitting 80 runs in the first innings of the match. His big knock helped Chattogram Royals to post a huge total of 174 runs, which ultimately proved to be the match-winning score.

Batting first, Chattogram Royals started the innings cautiously as they tried to keep the wickets in hand. Their approach still backfired, as Mohammad Naim got out early after scoring just 11 runs. The incoming batter, Mahfijul Islam, then forged a little partnership with Mirza Baig to absorb the pressure put on by Noakhali Express bowlers. They ensured not to lose more wickets while rotating the scoreboard steadily.

The duo were going along nicely until Maaz Sadaqat made the breakthrough by removing Mahfijul Islam for just 16 runs. The next batter, Mahmudul Hasan Joy also got out quickly, as he lost his wicket due to some smart bowling by Zahir Khan. Amid all this chaos, Mirza Baig held one end steadily by batting sensibly during the middle overs.

The young Pakistani batter then unleashed big shots towards the end to boost the scoring rate. His partnership with captain Mahedi Hasan was crucial, as both players carried the innings deep to post a competitive total. Mirza Baig scored a stunning 80 runs off 69 balls, including 7 fours and 2 sixes. His brilliant knock helped Chattogram Royals to reach 174 at the end, which proved a very daunting target for the inexperienced Noakhali Express team.

From the bowling perspective, Sabbir Hossain remained the only notable bowler for the Noakhali team, as he picked up 2 wickets while giving away just 9 runs.

Coming out to chase the target in the second innings, the Noakhali Express team displayed a very poor performance with the bat. Except for Maaz Sadaqat, no other Noakhali batter contributed strongly to the scoreboard. Their middle order was specifically disappointing, as Sabbir Hossain, Shykat Ali, and Jaker Ali got out cheaply without reaching double figures.

Haider Ali, who came out to bat at six, showcased some resistance with the bat by scoring 28 runs. However, due to rising run rate pressure, he also lost his wicket while trying to take on Tanvir Islam. His dismissal ended the hopes of the Noakhali Express team, as all the tailenders got out quickly without putting up any fight.

As a result, Noakhali Express were bowled out for just 109 runs in the second innings of the match. Their overall performance in the game was very disappointing, which allowed Chattogram Royals to dominate both innings and secure a 65-run victory in the end.
