Casemiro Set for Inter Miami Switch as Manchester United Exit Looms

Casemiro is reportedly keen on a move to David Beckham’s Inter Miami once his Manchester United deal runs out, with talks suggesting the transfer is getting close.

The Brazilian midfielder had already confirmed in January that this would be his final season at Old Trafford. He arrived from Real Madrid four years ago in a deal worth around £70 million including add-ons. The 34-year-old was seen getting emotional as he said farewell to the stadium in what was his last home appearance.

There have been strong reports linking him with a move to the United States once Manchester United’s season ends this weekend. According to the recent reports, Casemiro is leaning towards Inter Miami, with the club reportedly close to signing him on a free transfer.

However, there is a hurdle in making this transfer work. LA Galaxy currently hold his discovery rights, which means they have first option to talk to him and have already made a few contract offers.

This rule gives MLS clubs priority over certain players so teams don’t end up bidding against each other for the same big-name signings.

In the past, clubs have had to pay fees to get around discovery rights rules, but right now neither LA Galaxy nor Inter Miami have a designated player spot open for Casemiro.

If Miami wants to sign the experienced midfielder, the deal would need to fit under $2 million (£1.48m), unless they free up one of their three designated player slots. For the unversed, Lionel Messi currently holds one of those spots at Inter Miami.

Casemiro could still play one more match before leaving the club when Manchester United face Brighton, but Sunday’s game against Nottingham Forest was his final appearance at Old Trafford.

The Brazilian star recently posted a heartfelt message on social media, thanking both the club and fans for supporting him since his arrival.

"There are places we pass through in life... and there are places that become part of who we are. Manchester will forever be my home.” said Casemiro on social media.
