Brazil Fight Back To Salvage Draw Against Morocco in Thrilling World Cup Clash
Vinicius Junior rescued Brazil from defeat in their opening World Cup match, scoring a superb solo goal to help the five-time champions earn a draw against Morocco.
Brazil were behind in the 21st minute when Ismael Saibari lobbed the ball over the rushing Alisson Becker from outside the box, taking advantage of confusion between the goalkeeper and defenders Gabriel and Marquinhos.
Morocco kept control of the game and by the 30th minute had already taken 12 shots, which is the most Brazil have faced in a World Cup match since their game against Mexico in 2018.
However, despite all their pressure, Mohamed Ouahbi’s team couldn’t make it count, and Brazil got back on level terms 13 minutes before half-time through Vinícius Júnior.
Playing his 50th match for Brazil, he received the ball from Bruno Guimaraes inside the box, moved past his marker, and fired a powerful shot beyond Yassine Bounou.
Both sides then tried hard to score their second goal, but none of them succeeded in finding the net again. As a result, the match ended in a draw, with both Brazil and Morocco scoring one goal each.
