Bodo/Glimt Humiliate Inter Milan 2-1 to Secure Historic 5-2 Aggregate Champions League Triumph

Bodo/Glimt Humiliate Inter Milan 2-1 to Secure Historic 5-2 Aggregate Champions League Triumph

Bodo/Glimt delivered a night that will echo through Norwegian football history, defeating Inter Milan 2-1 at San Siro to seal a stunning 5-2 aggregate triumph and book their place in the UEFA Champions League last 16. The result marks the greatest achievement in the club’s rise from Arctic outsiders to continental contenders in the UEFA Champions League.

Holding a 3-1 advantage from the first leg, Bodo/Glimt arrived in Milan with belief rather than caution. Inter pressed early, throwing crosses into the area and testing Nikita Haikin from range, but the visitors absorbed the pressure with discipline and clarity.

The breakthrough that silenced San Siro came in the 58th minute. A defensive lapse allowed the ball to break kindly inside the area, and Jens Petter Hauge reacted quickest, converting from close range to make it 1-0 on the night and 4-1 on aggregate.

The former AC Milan forward later said, “For us it’s been unbelievable, we knew it would be very hard against Inter.”

Inter’s urgency increased, but their attacks grew predictable. When Hakon Evjen lashed home in the 72nd minute after a sharp exchange in the box, the scoreboard read 2-0, and the tie was effectively over at 5-1 overall. Alessandro Bastoni’s late effort reduced the deficit to 2-1, yet it barely dented the away celebrations.

More than 3,000 travelling supporters witnessed a composed and fearless display against last season’s finalists. Inter’s elimination deepens concerns for Italian clubs in Europe, with other Serie A sides also facing uphill battles.

For Bodo/Glimt, the focus now shifts to a potential showdown with either Manchester City or Sporting CP. Regardless of the draw, their 2-1 win over Inter Milan and 5-2 aggregate success have already reshaped perceptions of what this project can achieve in the UEFA Champions League.
