It wouldn’t be wrong to say that England’s test captain Ben Stokes has put in a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into his game as the all-rounder has been ruled out from all types of cricket for the next three months.

Stokes re-acquired a torn left hamstring injury during the England vs New Zealand third test. It was the same hamstring he tore in August while batting for Northern Superchargers against Manchester Originals in the men's Hundred, which benched him for two months.

On Monday afternoon, the English Cricket Board confirmed the recurrence of Stokes’ hamstring tear.

The severity of Ben Stokes’ injury could be estimated from the fact that he has been excluded from England’s 15-man squad for the ICC Champions Trophy set to take place in February-March next year.

Following medical evaluations, it was determined that Stokes requires surgery to address the torn hamstring.

Moreover, the ECB confirmed that the England captain will miss SA20 but is expected to be fit for England’s next test assignment against Zimbabwe in May 2025.

Unfortunately, Stokes will be forced to let go of his £800,000 deal with MI Cape Town in the SA20, which begins on 9th January.

Additionally, he has opted out of the next IPL season to manage his workload and focus on rehabilitation.
