The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced that the BPL matches postponed on December 30 will now be played on January 4, 2026 in Sylhet. The games scheduled for December 31 have also been postponed in line with the general holiday declared by the Government of Bangladesh to mourn the passing of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.

According to the BCB media release, the board has announced that BPL matches scheduled for January 1 and 2 will proceed as planned at their designated venues. This allows teams to continue their respective match preparations for those two days without disruption.

The media release also states that the BPL Governing Council will shortly issue a revised match itinerary for fixtures commencing from January 5 onwards. Meanwhile, the council has revoked the memo previously issued to teams detailing the rescheduling of the December 30 matches and their respective timings.

The President of BCB, Aminul Islam, shared a heartfelt personal note on the passing of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia. He said that cricket in Bangladesh soared to new heights under her vision, which is why she will always be remembered in the cricket fraternity with great respect.

"On a personal note, I remember with gratitude the encouragement and support she extended to sport during my playing days. Her interest in cricket and her understanding of its role in uniting the country were genuine and sustained. Under her stewardship, cricket in Bangladesh benefited most notably through improvements in facilities and infrastructure that helped lay stronger foundations for the game across the country.” said President of BCB, Aminul Islam.

"Her legacy in cricket is also inseparable from the contribution of her late son, Arafat Rahman, whose vision and initiatives had a pioneering influence on Bangladesh cricket's modernisation journey. The progress the game has made over the years owes much to that period of forward thinking and investment." concluded Aminul Islam.
