Bayern Munich Outclass Mainz by 4-3 in a Thrilling Bundesliga Clash

Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich pulled off a stunning comeback in the second half to beat FSV Mainz 4-3, avoiding another defeat at the Mewa Arena, where they had struggled in recent visits.

With the league title already in the bag and hopes of a treble still alive, Bayern were expected to push hard. But Mainz started brightly and made their chances count early on.

Kaishū Sano sparked the move with a great touch on the right side of the box and squared it for Dominik Kohr, who smashed a bouncing shot into the net. Bayern looked shaky after that, and Mainz kept creating chances, with Sheraldo Becker and Nadiem Amiri forcing good saves from Jonas Urbig.

Vincent Kompany may have regretted resting some key players, as Bayern fell further behind. Sano once again played a big role, setting up Amiri, whose shot was saved, but Paul Nebel was there to finish the rebound. Mainz then made it 3-0 before halftime, as Amiri’s powerful effort hit the bar and dropped on the line, allowing Becker to force it in.

Kompany had to turn to his star players in the second half, and it made an instant difference. Bayern came out much stronger, with Konrad Laimer’s cross finished by Nicolas Jackson. Substitute Michael Olise then cut inside and curled a brilliant shot into the top corner to make it 3-2.

Bayern Munich kept pushing, and Jamal Musiala equalised with a simple finish after Mainz failed to clear Olise’s cross. From there, it looked like only one team would win, and Bayern completed the comeback when Harry Kane scored from close range after Musiala’s cross was pushed into his path.

Mainz now have to wait a bit longer to confirm their place in the top division, but they are still expected to stay up and extend their run in the Bundesliga to 18 straight seasons.
