Bangladesh Cricket Board Reaches Out to BCCI to Mend Relations After T20 World Cup Controversy

Bangladesh Cricket Board Reaches Out to BCCI to Mend Relations After T20 World Cup Controversy

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has reached out to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to mend their relations after the recent T20 World Cup controversy. This latest development has been reported by Indian media, stating that BCB is keen to improve its relations to manage future bilateral cricket with India smoothly.

As per the report, the BCB’s Director of Cricket Operations, Nazmul Abedin Fahim, has written a formal letter to the BCCI to discuss various points. He described the letter as a part of BCB’s regular communication with different cricket boards around the world.

"We maintain regular communication with cricket boards around the world. As part of that, we recently reached out to the BCCI to explore opportunities for collaboration," said the BCB’s Director of Cricket Operations, Nazmul Abedin Fahim.

"We included in the letter a request to explore any other possibilities for cricket collaboration between our boards," added Nazmul Abedin Fahim.

The letter pointed out the upcoming matches between the two teams. Fahim highlighted that India’s men’s team will tour Bangladesh in September, and later, the Bangladesh women’s team will visit India to take part in international fixtures.

Apart from these tours, the BCB also suggested talks on more ways both sides can arrange cricket activities with each other.

This comes after months of tension between the two boards, which began when Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman was released from Kolkata Knight Riders’ squad for IPL 2026 on BCCI’s instructions.

Because of this, the BCB refused to go to India for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, which was held from February 7 to March 8. They raised security concerns and asked the ICC to shift their matches to Sri Lanka instead.

Their decision led to several talks with the ICC, but no agreement was reached. In the end, the ICC replaced Bangladesh with Scotland for the tournament. Now that the tournament is finished, and different boards are contemplating their future plans, the BCB is also keen to improve its relations with the BCCI to manage future opportunities wisely.
