DOHA: In a dramatic clash in Doha, Bangladesh A secured their place in the final of the ACC Men's Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025. They pulled it off with a tense Super Over victory over India at West End Park International Cricket Stadium on Friday.
The game wrapped up in a close tie. Both sides ended on 194 for six after some really strong batting all around. That led right into the pressure of a Super Over.
Ripon Mondol from Bangladesh handled the spotlight well. He grabbed two big wickets on back-to-back balls. He did not let India score a single run.
Then, Bangladesh A lost Yasir Ali on the very first ball. Things stayed tight from there. Suyash Sharma sent down a wide on the next delivery. That handed the win to Bangladesh A, along with their final spot.
Earlier, Bangladesh A posted a challenging total of 194 for six. They batted first after India chose to field. Opener Habibur Rahman Sohan held things steady. He made 65 off 46 balls. He struck five sixes and three fours in his innings.
The late charge came from SM Meherob, who smashed an explosive 48 off just 18 balls, with six sixes and one four, taking Bangladesh A’s score to a formidable total.
India came back hard in their chase. The openers got off to a fast start. Priyansh Arya hit 44 off 23 balls. Vaibhav Suryavanshi chipped in with 38 off only 15 deliveries. Even with that push, India dropped wickets when it hurt most. They needed 16 runs from the last over.
Rakibul Hasan kept it close in that over. He gave up just two singles at first. Then Ashutosh Sharma smashed a six and a four. That brought India back into contention. Still, with four runs needed from two balls, Ashutosh got bowled for 13 off six. India had to get four off the final ball.
They managed only three runs. The scores were tied up evenly. That pushed the match to the Super Over. Nehal Wadhera remained unbeaten on 32 from 29 balls, but his efforts were not enough. Bangladesh A held their nerve, securing the win though. They won it and earned their place in the final.
Bangladesh A waits now for the winner from the other semi-final. That one pits Pakistan Shaheens against Sri Lanka A.
