Bangladesh 96/6 After 25.3 Overs, Need 46 From 24.3 Overs Against Zimbabwe
Bangladesh are 96 for 6 after 25.3 overs in their chase of 142 against Zimbabwe in the first ODI at Harare. The visitors need 46 runs from the remaining 24.3 overs, but their lower order will have to stay composed after Zimbabwe’s bowlers turned the chase into a tense contest.
Bangladesh lost Tanzid Hasan early for eight when Blessing Muzarabani gave Zimbabwe their first breakthrough in the second over. The innings became more difficult when Najmul Hossain Shanto fell for three, also to Muzarabani, leaving Bangladesh at 17 for 2 after 3.4 overs.
Richard Ngarava then removed Soumya Sarkar for six in the next over. Bangladesh were 17 for 3 after 4.1 overs and needed a steady partnership to settle the innings.
Towhid Hridoy and Nurul Hasan responded with a careful stand. Hridoy scored 25 from 58 balls and helped Bangladesh reach 66 before Newman Nyamhuri broke the partnership in the 19th over. Mosaddek Hossain followed soon after for three, leaving Bangladesh at 74 for 5 after 20.2 overs.
Captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz added 10 but was dismissed by Ngarava at the end of the 24th over. Bangladesh reached 96 for 6 after 25.3 overs, with Nurul Hasan unbeaten on 29 from 42 balls. Rishad Hossain is supporting him on two not out.
Zimbabwe’s bowlers have kept the pressure on throughout the chase. Muzarabani has taken 2 for 16 from seven overs, while Ngarava has returned 2 for 31 from seven overs. Nyamhuri has also picked up two wickets, making the target of 142 look far more challenging.
Bangladesh still has time, with 24.3 overs left in the innings. However, they have only four wickets in hand, and Nurul Hasan’s wicket could change the direction of the match. Follow Zim vs Ban live on tapmad for the latest action.
Bangladesh needs 46 runs from 24.3 overs, so the required rate is not a concern. Their biggest challenge is protecting their remaining four wickets. If Nurul Hasan bats through the next 10 overs, Bangladesh remain favourites to complete the chase. Zimbabwe can take control if they dismiss Nurul Hasan early and exposes the tail.
