Bangladesh’s batting lineup crumbled for 102 in 14.2 overs as New Zealand’s bowlers, led by Josh Clarkson’s three-wicket haul, dominated the rain-interrupted first innings of the series-deciding third T20I at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
After New Zealand captain Nick Kelly won the toss and elected to field, the visitors made immediate inroads. The Bangladeshi top order struggled to find stability early on. Saif Hassan was the first to fall for 16, caught off the bowling of debutant Nathan Smith in the fourth over. The pressure mounted quickly as Tanzid Hasan (6) and Parvez Hossain Emon (0) were dismissed in consecutive deliveries by Smith and Clarkson, leaving the hosts reeling at 35 for 3.
A significant rain delay halted play in the seventh over with Bangladesh at 50 for 3. Upon resumption, the match was reduced to 15 overs per side, forcing the Bangladeshi batsmen to take immediate risks.
Litton Das, who had anchored the early part of the innings, attempted to accelerate but was dismissed by Clarkson for 26 off 17 balls, including three boundaries and a six.
Towhid Hridoy provided the only substantial resistance for the Tigers, top-scoring with 33 runs from 24 deliveries. His innings included three fours and two sixes, providing brief hope of a competitive total. However, he lacked support from the other end. Shamim Hossain (3) and Mohammad Saifuddin (0) fell in quick succession as the New Zealand bowlers maintained a disciplined line.
Josh Clarkson was the pick of the bowlers, tearing through the middle and lower order to finish with impressive figures of 3 for 9 in his two overs. He was well-supported by Nathan Smith (2 for 14) and Ben Sears (2 for 12), who ensured no late-order flourishes could rescue the innings.
The innings concluded abruptly in the 15th over when Ripon Mondol was out, leaving Bangladesh all out for 102.
