ICC Test Rankings Bring Positive Shift for Pakistan Batters

Pakistan’s red-ball squad picked up a welcome boost after the fresh ICC rankings update placed several batters on the move. Pakistan Test batters rankings became a major talking point after Babar Azam edged up one place while Shan Masood secured a stronger jump in the latest standings.

Babar now sits 22nd with 656 rating points. Shan, leading Pakistan in the longer format, climbed two spots to 42nd with 576 points. Few saw this coming after Pakistan’s inconsistent Test stretch over recent months.

Saud Shakeel continues to lead the national side among batters. He stayed firm at ninth with 734 points. Mohammad Rizwan also held position at 21st. Salman Ali Agha, meanwhile, slipped one place to 28th.

Pakistan Players See Mixed Changes in ICC List

The latest ICC Test rankings also reflected movement further down the order. Imam-ul-Haq kept hold of 51st place, while Abdullah Shafique dropped to 57th. Kamran Ghulam remained unchanged at 85th.

At the top, England’s Joe Root stayed number one. Harry Brook followed closely behind, while Australia’s Travis Head climbed into third position. Everything in the upper standings after recent Test performances around the world reshaped the race.

In bowling, Shaheen Shah Afridi remained Pakistan’s leading fast bowler at 24th with 632 points. Mohammad Abbas and Sajid Khan both lost a place and now sit 29th and 30th respectively. Hasan Ali managed a slight rise to 43rd, while Abrar Ahmed slipped down to 51st.

The Pakistan Test batters rankings discussion also arrived alongside strong competition in bowling charts, where India pacer Jasprit Bumrah held the top spot. Pakistan spinner Noman Ali stayed second, with Mitchell Starc falling to third in the updated list.
