Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam expressed confidence in the team's performance after defeating the RawalPindiz in the recent clash. He said the team wanted to score big in the first six overs, so that a strong foundation for the chase can be laid accordingly.

The recent Peshawar Zalmi vs RawalPindiz clash was a high-scoring contest in which power-packed batting performances were seen from both sides. Peshawar Zalmi emerged victorious by chasing down the big target of 215, as the partnership between Abdul Samad and Michael Bracewell in the later part of the innings proved decisive for the team.

Speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, Babar Azam said that the Powerplay was crucial and the team responded well according to the given situation.

“We wanted to utilize the first six overs and capitalize on the momentum. Our middle order responded well and batted according to the situation. If there is dew, you will prefer to bowl first and chase. In most matches, chasing has worked well. Hopefully, I can perform even better,” said Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam.

The captain of RawalPindiz, Mohammad Rizwan, also shared his views after the defeat, saying the team needs to improve its bowling to win the upcoming matches in the league.

“Our batters are in form, but we need to improve our execution and address some issues in our bowling,” said Mohammad Rizwan at the post-match presentation ceremony.

In the recent match, RawalPindiz set a strong total of 214 in their 20 overs, thanks to a fast start from openers Yasir Khan and Mohammad Rizwan. They kept the runs flowing with aggressive batting, as the Zalmi bowlers failed to contain them in the first innings.

Yasir was the top scorer with a quick 83 off 46 balls, while Rizwan added 41 off 32 balls, including five fours and a six.

Coming out to chase the target, Peshawar Zalmi showcased a strong batting performance, with Babar Azam, Mohammad Haris, Abdul Samad and Michael Bracewell playing aggressively in the middle. Due to their collective effort, Zalmi reached the target on the first ball of the final over, with Bracewell remaining not out on 35 from 17 balls, including one four and four sixes.
