Babar Azam Climbs Back into ICC Test Top 10 Rankings After Stellar West Indies Series

Pakistan captain Babar Azam has made his way back into the ICC Test batting top 10 after putting together a good run of performances against West Indies.

The right-hander moved up five spots to claim 10th place in the latest rankings released on Wednesday. It is the first time Babar has featured among the top 10 Test batters since September 2024.

Babar played a key role during Pakistan’s tour of the Caribbean. He was particularly important in the second Test at Queen’s Park Oval, where Pakistan beat West Indies by eight wickets. The win also ended their wait of over three years for an away victory in Test cricket.

Babar scored 88 runs in Pakistan’s first innings and stayed unbeaten on 24 when they chased the target in the second innings to draw the series 1-1. His performance in the first Test was also great, as he went back to the pavilion unbeaten on 58 in the second innings.

The 31-year-old has returned to the top 10 after nearly two years. His latest rise comes after showing better form since taking back the role of Pakistan’s Test captain.

Apart from him, Abdullah Shafique also made a big move in the batting rankings after an impressive series in the Caribbean.

Playing his first Test since October 2025, Abdullah struck an unbeaten 160 in the second Test when the other batters around him were losing their wickets. His big knock helped Pakistan take a 43-run lead in the first innings.

Meanwhile, Sajid Khan was the biggest riser among Pakistan’s bowlers, moving up five spots to 30th in the latest Test bowling rankings after a strong series in the Caribbean. The off-spinner also climbed five places to 32nd in the Test all-rounders’ rankings.

Speaking about the batting charts, there was no change at the top of the main Test rankings. Australia’s Travis Head continued to lead the batting list, with India’s Jasprit Bumrah holding on to first place among bowlers.
