The captain of Peshawar Zalmi, Babar Azam, is not much concerned about the bowling department of the team in the upcoming PSL 2026 season. He acknowledged that Zalmi had some bowling issues in previous editions, but reaffirmed that they have now been addressed with specific signings for the upcoming season.
At the PSL 11 captains’ press conference, Babar was asked about Zalmi’s recent bowling problems and how the team plans to manage the limited availability of overseas bowlers Shoriful Islam and Nahid Rana. He admitted that their bowling has not been strong in recent years, but said the franchise has tried to solve that issue through new signings.
Babar then said that Peshawar Zalmi will try to execute its plans with whatever bowling they have, as it is the most important thing to take wickets and get positive results in the match.
"Yes, definitely, the bowling attacks that we were struggling with in previous seasons, this time, we have fixed that [with our signings] and will try to execute the plan," said Babar Azam at the PSL 11 captains’ press conference.
"The main thing is to execute plans. No matter what kind of bowling [stocks] you pick, if you do not execute plans, then it is of no use. So, by the will of Almighty Allah, we are focused on executing [our plans]." added Babar Azam.
It should be noted that Peshawar Zalmi is one of the most steady teams in the PSL, but they have not won the title since 2017, mainly because of their consistent bowling issues. It could once again prove to be a challenging task for them, however, Babar is confident that his team can change the course this time.
