Pakistan’s top-order batter Ayesha Zafar made history on Tuesday by scoring an unbeaten century against Zimbabwe in the first T20I at the National Bank Stadium.
Ayesha came in to bat at No. 3 when Pakistan Women lost their first wicket in the second over. She played an attacking innings from the start and kept putting pressure on the Zimbabwe bowlers. She reached her first T20I century on the very last ball of the innings, hitting Nomvelo Sibanda for a four towards the mid-wicket area.
She finished unbeaten on 102 from only 47 balls, striking 15 fours and two sixes in a stunning knock. Due to her stunning knock, Pakistan put up a massive total of 237/5 in the first innings of the match. This also helped them to go past their earlier best in the format, which was 181/4 against South Africa in 2024.
By scoring a century, Ayesha Zafar has now become only the second women’s batter in Pakistan history to score a hundred in T20 internationals.
Furthermore, Ayesha reached her first T20I century in just 47 balls, which made it the quickest hundred ever by a Pakistan women’s batter in this format. She went past the previous record set by Muneeba, who had brought up her maiden ton in 66 balls during the 2023 T20 World Cup.
Talking about the fastest centuries in T20 internationals, Ayesha Zafar is currently placed fifth on the list. The top spot is held by West Indies’ Deandra Dottin, who scored the fastest hundred in just 38 balls back in 2010.
