Aus W vs WI W: Aus Eye Another Final as WI Seek Semi-Final Upset

Australia Women and West Indies Women face off in the first semi-final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 at Kennington Oval, London. Australia enter the knockout clash unbeaten after winning all five of their group-stage matches, while West Indies reached the last four after a mixed campaign that included three wins and two defeats.

The six-time champions have looked the strongest team in the tournament, recording convincing victories over South Africa, Bangladesh, Netherlands, Pakistan, and India. Their success has come through consistent contributions from both batters and bowlers, making them the favourites to reach another World Cup final.

West Indies, however, have shown resilience throughout the competition. Despite setbacks against England and Ireland, they secured a semi-final spot and will be hoping to repeat their famous victory over Australia in the 2016 Women's T20 World Cup final.

Australia won the toss and elected to field first, backing their strong chasing record at The Oval. The contest will feature two of the tournament's biggest stars, with experienced all-rounder Ellyse Perry leading Australia's charge, while Hayley Matthews remains West Indies' biggest hope after enjoying several memorable performances against Australia in recent years.

Although Australia hold a dominant head-to-head record and enters as clear favourites, West Indies have the experience and match-winners capable of causing another major upset in a World Cup knockout match.
