Australia vs Sri Lanka Women’s World Cup Match Abandoned in Colombo

Australia, still unbeaten and firm favourites in this competition, were expected to dominate. Sri Lanka, which has never beaten Australia in 11 ODIs and eight T20Is, will nonetheless feel relieved by the rain reprieve.

The scheduling now leaves Sri Lanka with a long break before facing England on October 11, while Australia stays in Colombo to take on Pakistan on October 8, followed by a trip to Visakhapatnam for their high-profile match with India on October 12.

Attention also quickly turns to Sunday’s marquee fixture at the same venue: India vs Pakistan. However, the weather forecast suggests the rain might yet steal the spotlight again.
