Australia Women defeated Pakistan Women in a commanding style at Colombo. The defending champions won the game by 107 runs, courtesy of some fine batting by Beth Mooney in the first innings. It was a game that could have gone either way had Mooney not stood tall for Australia. She played a stunning knock of 109 in the first innings, rescuing Australia from a very tricky position against Pakistan.

Batting first, Australia were rocked back by Pakistan’s ruthless bowling. The defending champions didn’t have a great start with the bat, as they lost both openers in the Powerplay when the score was just 30. This brought early pressure on the Aussies, who were trying to make a strong start against Pakistan.

Ellyse Perry tried to build some scoring momentum, but then she lost her wicket as well in the 13th over. This was the wicket that brought a major collapse for the Australian side. Though Beth Mooney was standing firm at one end, other incoming batters kept losing their wickets one after another due to tight Pakistani bowling.

Due to a sudden collapse, Australia were once struggling to go past even 100 on the scoreboard. This was the time when Pakistan could have wrapped up the innings, but they failed to grab the opportunity. The star batter of Australia, Beth Mooney, came up with a knock that will be remembered for years. She played a remarkable innings when Australia had lost almost all hope. Her superlative century showcased grit and passion, giving Australia a fighting total on the board that once looked like a distant possibility.

The Australian team negated the Pakistani attack and managed to score 221 at the end of the first innings. This was a score that gave Australia a fighting chance in the match, which was dominated by Pakistan in the first innings.

After setting a good score on the board, the Australian team came back roaring in the second innings. They sent back the Pakistan openers very early in the Powerplay, courtesy of some flawless bowling by Megan Schutt and Kim Garth. The Pakistan batters didn’t have any answers to the Australian attack that looked very determined from the start of the second innings. They lost wickets at regular intervals due to not understanding the pace and nature of the Colombo pitch.

Sidra Amin remained the star player of the Pakistani batting innings by scoring 35 runs off 52 balls. Once she was dismissed, it became clear that Pakistan was heading toward a heavy defeat against a rampant Australian side. Though some resistance was shown by the lower-order batters, it wasn’t enough for Pakistan to win the match.

In the end, Australia bowled out Pakistan for just 114 runs. They won the match by 107 runs, showcasing complete control and dominance over the inexperienced Pakistan team.
