Tahlia McGrath won the toss and chose to bowl first in their Wednesday’s match against England in Indore. Their line-up had a few changes. Alyssa Healy was left out due to a calf injury in training. Georgia Voll came in at the top of the order, and Beth Mooney took over as wicket-keeper.
Two more changes are made. Sophie Molineux also took the place of Georgia Wareham, and Kim Garth took the place of Darcie Brown.
“We’re happy to chase under lights, and there’s a bit of grass on the pitch,” McGrath said after the toss. “Some players are taking on new roles, so it’s a good chance for them to show what they can do.”
England remained with the same squad. Although they had some difficulties in the middle order, they did not want to change anything and left Danni Wyatt-Hodge on the bench.
The middle order of England has shown a good performance during a warm-up match with Australia that took place earlier in the tournament. Sophia Dunkley scored fifty, Alice Capsey scored fifty, and Emma Lamb scored fifty, which gave England a four-wicket victory.
Captain Nat Sciver-Brunt said she would have liked to bowl first because of the evening dew. “We want to go in confident for the knockout stages and feel this combination gives us balance,” she said.
Both teams remain unbeaten so far this year and are eager to move to the top of the points table.
