The ruthless middle-order batter for Pakistan, “Asif Ali,” has announced his retirement from international cricket. In an age of social media, Asif opted to confirm it from his own words. The right-handed cricketer retires from the Pakistan cricket team but will continue to play league cricket globally.

Asif thanked those present for the chance to wear the national jersey and recounted the ups and downs of a career in which he had to confront and conquer personal demons. He enjoyed the support of fans, coaches, and teammates, which never wavered throughout his journey.

He thanked everyone with his message. “All my fans, my teammates, my family, and every person whom I've met, I cannot be more thankful for the company you gave me during this time. Today, I retire, but I also want to dedicate this retirement to my love for the game because I want to be able to play league cricket, which will allow me to share the game with the people.”

Asif Ali made his international debut in 2018 and has since gone on to play 58 T20Is and 21 ODIs for Pakistan. As he narrates his life story, one of his most memorable moments is the fiery batting that helped his team win the World Cup match against Afghanistan.

His final goodbye to the international community was this performance he gave for Pakistan against Bangladesh in the Asia Cup in October 2023.

Asif is a legend who will be remembered forever for his heroic batting, aggressive hitting, and match-winning moments. But his last page contains a love story that will last the ages. While his loss will be felt by international cricket, it will not be felt by franchise leagues, where he will undoubtedly play a significant role.
