“I Tried Everything to Recover” – World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka Withdraws from Stuttgart Open After Injury Setback

“I Tried Everything to Recover” – World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka Withdraws from Stuttgart Open After Injury Setback

World number one Aryna Sabalenka has pulled out of the Stuttgart Open after sustaining an injury following her recent title run at the Miami Open. The tournament in Stuttgart is scheduled to begin on April 13.

Sabalenka confirmed her withdrawal through a message on social media, stating she had been unable to recover in time despite efforts to return to fitness. The Belarusian has been a regular contender at the event in recent years but is yet to win the title despite multiple final appearances.

"Hi Stuttgart. I'm very sad to say that I won't be able to play the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix this year," she wrote on her story.

"I always love coming back to Stuttgart. The atmosphere, the fans, and the support I feel there are so special to me. And of course, I was really hoping to have another chance to fight for that Porsche."

Injury Interrupts Strong Run

Sabalenka’s withdrawal comes shortly after a successful stretch on the tour. She recently secured titles at Indian Wells and the Miami Open, completing the ‘Sunshine Double’ for the second consecutive time. Her win in Miami included a three-set victory over Coco Gauff in the final.

"Unfortunately, I suffered an injury after Miami, and even though I tried everything to recover in time, I'm not ready to compete. I'm really sorry to miss this amazing tournament. Wishing everyone a great week in Stuttgart, and I hope to see you all again very soon," Aryna added.

Mixed Record in Stuttgart

Despite consistent performances at the Stuttgart Open, Sabalenka has not been able to convert her runs into a title. She has finished runner-up multiple times over the past few years, including defeats against Ashleigh Barty and Iga Swiatek.

The 27-year-old has also managed her schedule selectively this season, having skipped events earlier in the year before returning to form with back-to-back titles in the United States.

Her absence leaves a gap in the Stuttgart draw as the tournament prepares to begin next week.
