Arshad Nadeem Ends Asian Games 2026 Campaign Without A Medal

Arshad Nadeem missed out on a medal at the 2026 Asian Games after finishing fourth in the men’s javelin throw final at Paloma Mizuho Sports Park on Monday.

The Olympic champion opened with a throw of 76.69 metres, while his second attempt was ruled a foul. He then produced his best effort of the competition in his third attempt, sending the javelin 80.29 metres. It was also his best throw of the season.

However, Nadeem could not improve on that mark in his final three attempts, with all of them ending as fouls. As a result, he finished just outside the medal positions.

Despite putting in strong efforts in his last throw, Arshad Nadeem ended the final with an 80.29m effort, but the mark was not enough to earn him a place among the top three. Notably, Rohit Yadav of India took bronze after recording 84.35m.

India managed to collect another medal in the event through Yash Vir Singh, who moved into second place with a new personal best of 85.72m. Their leading javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra did not take part in the competition.

Meanwhile, the gold went to Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage, who produced the best throw of the night. After his Commonwealth Games success, the Sri Lankan continued his fine form by sending the javelin 88.55m to claim another major title.

Nadeem’s latest result has added to the concerns over his recent performances after another disappointing showing at the Asian Games 2026. The Olympic champion had already struggled at the Commonwealth Games, where he was unable to challenge for the medals.

He went into the tournament as the defending champion but could only manage a best throw of 77.41m, leaving him in ninth place.

It should be noted that Arshad Nadeem’s Commonwealth Games campaign had also started poorly. He finished seventh in the qualifying round of the men’s javelin throw, with his best effort coming in at 78.63 metres.
