Australia lost a nail-biting semifinal to India just two days ago. It was a match that went down to the wire, and luckily, the home side came out as the ultimate winners. The Australian captain, Alyssa Healy, took this loss with a brave heart, saying that it is a ‘re-ignition’ for her group to comeback stronger in future tournaments.

Alyssa Healy has confirmed that this was her last mega event, and she won’t be featuring in the next one. This statement describes that Alyssa Healy might soon retire from international cricket, but it doesn’t mean that the Australian side will lose its dominance in ODI cricket. The captain is confident that the loss will give her side an opportunity to regroup and plan better for future events.

"This next four-year cycle leading into the next World Cup is going to be really exciting for our group and potentially see some really cool opportunities for some of the younger players to get greater opportunities in this side," said Alyssa Healy at the post-match press conference.

The captain further said that the opportunity to feature in high-pressure games will strengthen the skills of new Australian players. This will enhance their game awareness, allowing them to perform better under tough situations in the upcoming events.

"The opportunity for some of our players to play in a really high-pressure situation like that is going to do wonders for our group. This same thing happened in 2017. We reflected on that and thought we could have done things a little bit better under pressure and where we can be better at little certain aspects of our game moving forward. And I think we made that shift moving forward and we've seen it over the last cycle doing that one in 2022." said Alyssa Healy.

The defeat against India brought an end to a very long winning-streak of Australia in ODI World Cup matches. Alyssa Healy thinks that this defeat will re-ignite her group to become more ruthless in the upcoming tournaments. She is looking forward to this opportunity as a catalyst to do wonders in the future.

"This is just another re-ignition for our group to say, you know what, we can be better at little moments of the game. For our group to experience that, to be put under pressure and see how we respond, is going to do great things for us moving forward. So that's really cool.” said Alyssa Healy.

Speaking about the cricket schedule, she says that having more ODIs in the calendar will help her team to evolve rapidly. She is confident that more bilateral series will help the women’s game to grow globally, making future tournaments more competitive than ever before.

"I hope we see more one-day cricket on the calendar. I think that's going to be really important in this cycle. We see a lot of teams in this World Cup that, obviously, we're forced to play against in the Women's Championship. But more bilateral series are going to be amazing for the global game in that regard and make sure that these World Cups are highly competitive.” said Alyssa Healy.

The road to the next ODI World Cup is long, however, Australia has already started working towards it. They are taking the recent semifinal loss against India as another lesson in their push towards glory. This is a spirit of champions, which describes that a more competitive and ruthless Australian side is about to emerge in the upcoming tournaments.
