Alycia Baumgardner Retains Titles with Clinical Unanimous Decision Victory Over Bo Mi Re Shin

Unified junior lightweight champion Alycia Baumgardner retained her WBA, WBO and IBF titles after a unanimous decision victory over Bo Mi Re Shin on Friday night, with all three judges scoring the bout in her favour after ten rounds.

Baumgardner dictated the pace for large parts of the contest, using her jab and controlled combinations to manage distance. While Shin had moments of pressure, particularly in the later rounds, the champion’s accuracy and ring control ensured she stayed ahead on the scorecards, which read 98-92, 98-92 and 99-91.

Daniels Secures Stoppage Win in Co-Main Event

In the co-main event, Lani Daniels claimed the IBF and WBO super middleweight titles with a ninth-round stoppage against Shadasia Green. The referee halted the contest after Daniels landed a series of right hands that left Green unable to continue.

Green received immediate medical attention and was later taken to hospital. Officials confirmed she was conscious and communicating following the incident.

Future Plans and Potential Bouts

Baumgardner, now holding a professional record of 18-1 with seven knockouts, indicated interest in a possible bout with Katie Taylor. She suggested she would be open to adjusting fight conditions. This includes shorter rounds, to make the contest viable.

The champion described her approach as measured, focusing on timing and control throughout the fight. Attention is now expected to shift towards potential negotiations for her next appearance. Discussions for this are likely to continue in the coming weeks.
