Arbeloa Openly Supports Possible Mourinho Return Next Season

Arbeloa Openly Supports Possible Mourinho Return Next Season

Real Madrid coach Alvaro Arbeloa is backing Jose Mourinho to return to the club next season. He said Mourinho’s comeback would be a good thing for the club, and he won’t have any issues with that.

The Portuguese coach, who was in charge of Madrid from 2010 to 2013 and faced Pep Guardiola’s strong Barcelona team during that time, has recently been linked with a possible return to Real Madrid.

Jose Mourinho is currently in charge of Benfica. Bringing him back would be a bold move from president Florentino Pérez, especially after Real Madrid ended a second straight season without winning a major trophy.

“For me, as a former (Madrid) player and as a Madridista, Jose Mourinho is number one. He’s one of ours. If he comes back next year, I’ll be very happy to see him back home.” said Real Madrid coach Alvaro Arbeloa.

Arbeloa took over from Xabi Alonso in January, but he could not turn things around or bring any success in a difficult season for Madrid.

Star forward Kylian Mbappe also spoke out against Arbeloa after he was left on the bench during the midweek win over Real Oviedo

Mbappe had just come back from a thigh injury, which also ruled him out of last weekend’s Clasico, where Barcelona defeated Real Madrid to clinch the La Liga title.

Speaking about Kylian Mbappe, Arbeloa said that he recently met with the French star and asked him to remain calm and focused.

“I’ve just bumped into him, I told him to stay calm. I understand that these kinds of things make headlines, but it’s something much more normal than you think,” said Real Madrid coach Alvaro Arbeloa.

“I used to be a player, I know what they can feel in these situations, playing every day, then playing less or not at all,” added Alvaro Arbeloa.

Arbeloa then said that he totally understands Mbappe’s frustration, as he is a top player who wants to do well for Real Madrid.

“I totally understand that Kylian wasn’t happy about not playing on Thursday, and I like that. I wouldn’t understand it if he didn’t want to play. My relationship with him remains the same.” said Alvaro Arbeloa.
