LAHORE: Lahore Qalandars have added left-arm pacer Shahab Khan to their squad for PSL 2026, replacing injured fast bowler Ali Shabbir ahead of the new season starting March 26.
The franchise confirmed the move on X, with Shahab joining the defending champions after an impressive run in domestic cricket. The 24-year-old recently delivered a strong campaign in the National T20 Cup, finishing with 13 wickets in five matches for Abbottabad.
Shahab’s T20 record further strengthens his case for selection. Across 22 matches, he has taken 46 wickets with an economy rate of 8.39. His performances also include multiple four-wicket and five-wicket hauls. This highlights his effectiveness in short-format cricket.
The change comes after Ali Shabbir was sidelined due to a right-hand injury sustained during the National T20 Cup. The fast bowler was hurt while fielding for Bahawalpur and was later assessed by medical staff.
Following evaluation, Shabbir was advised a recovery period of four to six weeks due to a fracture, ruling him out of the tournament. The young pacer had recently been drafted into the squad in the Under-23 category and was part of preparations at the team’s high-performance centre in Islamabad.
Lahore Qalandars will enter PSL 11 as defending champions with a squad featuring key names such as Shaheen Shah Afridi, Fakhar Zaman, and Haris Rauf. The upcoming edition will run until May 3 and will include an expanded format with eight teams.
The addition of Shahab Khan provides the Qalandars with another pace option as they prepare to defend their title in the new season.
