Al Nassr Secure 3-0 Win Over Al Fateh in Saudi Pro League Season Opener

Al Nassr Secure 3-0 Win Over Al Fateh in Saudi Pro League Season Opener

Al Nassr began their Saudi Pro League title defence with a comfortable 3-0 win over Al Fateh at Al Awal Park in the opening round of the season.

Al Fateh found themselves under pressure early on as Al Nassr looked to take control of the game. The visitors mostly stayed back and tried to catch their opponents out when they won the ball.

Walid Al-Anzi kept Al Fateh in the contest during the opening period. The goalkeeper produced good saves to deny Joao Felix and Angelo Gabriel, stopping Al Nassr from taking an early lead.

Meanwhile, Al Nassr was forced to make an early change when Saad Al Nasser picked up an injury and was taken off in the 18th minute. Salem Al Najdi came on as his replacement, showcasing the team’s strong bench strength.

The hosts finally broke the deadlock in the 37th minute. Al Najdi sent a well-placed cross into the box, and Angelo Gabriel met it perfectly to put Al Nassr ahead.

Just three minutes later, Al Nassr doubled their lead. Joao Félix received the ball, went past several defenders with a strong run and some neat dribbling, and calmly finished the move to make it 2-0.

In the second half, Al Fateh struggled again to keep the ball possession, while Al Nassr continued to push forward. The visitors had trouble putting together attacking moves, and the home side remained in control as they searched for another goal.

Samou Costa then made a great impact, as he scored Al Nassr’s third goal in the 73rd minute to further extend the scoreboard lead.

Cristiano Ronaldo was also in attendance at Al Awal Park but did not feature in the match. He had been given extra time away from training after playing for Portugal at the FIFA World Cup 2026.

Al Nassr now have three points from their opening league game, while Al Fateh will have to regroup after starting the season with a crushing 3-0 defeat.
