Afghanistan to Host Sri Lanka in UAE White-Ball Tour

Afghanistan to Host Sri Lanka in UAE White-Ball Tour

The Afghanistan vs Sri Lanka white-ball series is locked in. Six matches will be played in two different venues.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board has confirmed that Sri Lanka will tour the United Arab Emirates from 13 to 25 March for three T20 Internationals and three One-Day Internationals. It will be the first time Afghanistan hosts Sri Lanka in a bilateral assignment, even if the games are staged on neutral soil.

Sharjah to Light Up T20 Nights

The T20 leg opens on 13 March at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Two more matches follow on 15 and 17 March at the same venue. Sharjah has seen drama before, tight finishes, loud nights. This time, it carries extra weight.

Both teams will arrive straight after the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. For Afghanistan, the series fits into a broader rebuild. Officials believe the exposure against an experienced Sri Lankan unit will test combinations under pressure.

Dubai to Host 50-Over Battle

The ODI leg will be played at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on 20, 22 and 25 March. The 50-over format demands control and discipline. Teams need to manage phases carefully. A strong bowling spell or key partnership can decide the match.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board UAE series represents another step in Afghanistan’s progress at international level. Hosting a full tour strengthens its standing and gives emerging players exposure against experienced opposition.

Sri Lanka Cricket has backed the tour, stressing the value of bilateral contests in long-term planning. Sri Lanka, improved in recent outings, will use the series to fine-tune combinations ahead of upcoming ICC tournaments.

This tour marks the first time Afghanistan hosts Sri Lanka in a bilateral series. It adds a new chapter to their cricketing ties.

The opening T20I in Sharjah will begin that chapter. Once the ODIs conclude in Dubai, both sides will turn to their next assignments. For now, attention remains on the Afghanistan vs Sri Lanka white-ball series and its competitive significance.
