Afghanistan had a brisk opening in the Asia Cup 2025 against Hong Kong in Abu Dhabi. Having won the toss and decided to bat, they hurried to 23/2 within 4 overs.
Afghanistan is 26 for 2 in 4 overs. Rahmanullah Gurbaz (8) fell to Ayush Shukla, while Ibrahim Zadran (1) was removed by Ateeq Iqbal. Sediqullah Atal is holding one end with 17 off 11 balls, while Mohammad Nabi is yet to score.
Afghan batters need to keep their wickets so they can score a big total. Much will depend on how the middle order performs and whether Rashid Khan’s side can maintain momentum in the middle overs.
For Hong Kong, early wickets will be key to slowing down a confident Afghan batting order. They will hope to create more pressure as the power play unfolds.
