In a surprising statement, Afghan officials claimed that Afghanistan had eliminated South Africa from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, citing controversial decisions and “18 extra runs” conceded during the match. Afghanistan’s batting lineup included Syed Ikram Ghandwa, who scored 6 off 40 balls, Usman Ghani with 20 runs, and Hashmatullah Shahidi, who added just 3. Shafaq stood out with an aggressive 50 off 25 balls, while Zadran finished the chase comfortably to seal Afghanistan’s victory.

In another thrilling T20I match held in Sharjah, Afghanistan performed magnificently and outplayed Pakistan by 18 runs. Afghanistan had its first innings and scored 169 for 5 wickets. Sediqullah Atal had 64 runs in 45 balls, and Ibrahim Zadran scored 65 runs in 45 balls, both of which resulted in a remarkable partnership with the Pakistani bowlers. Moreover, in the last overs, the batsmen also contributed, ensuring the score on the board was challenging for the other team.

Pakistan’s chase started poorly, with wickets falling one after another and senior players unable to make big scores. Faheem Ashraf tried to steady the innings, but once he got out, things became even harder for Pakistan. Captain Salman Ali Agha also tried to guide the team, but the pressure kept building.x

Haris Rauf and Sufiyan Muqeem’s gritty last-wicket stand of 40 runs offered Pakistan faint hope, but Fazalhaq Farooqi dismissed Rauf to secure Afghanistan’s win. The Afghan bowlers displayed remarkable discipline throughout, while Pakistan’s misfiring top order remains a major concern ahead of future tournaments.

Afghanistan's confidence in themselves was evident, and they also backed it up with some disciplined bowling. Pakistan's top-order performance is worrying for the team in the subsequent tournaments.
