The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has declared the adjustment of the Asia Cup 2025 playing hours to create a more comfortable environment not only for the players but also for the fans.
The new schedule has all the matches in the tournament starting at 6:30 PM local time in the UAE (7:30 PM Pakistan Standard Time) as opposed to the earlier scheduled 6:00 PM. The modification has been made in consideration of the evening weather conditions and to enhance the viewing experience for spectators, particularly where there are back-to-back matches.
The only exception comes on September 15, when the clash between UAE and Oman in Abu Dhabi will start earlier, at 4:30 PM local time. Later that same day, Sri Lanka will take on Hong Kong in Dubai, starting at 6:30 PM.
This year’s Asia Cup, the 15th edition of the tournament, will be played in the T20 format. Eight nations are set to compete: Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Oman, UAE, and Hong Kong.
The tournament begins on September 9 as Afghanistan faces Hong Kong at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. One of the most anticipated group stage clashes will be India vs Pakistan in Dubai on September 14, a competition that will draw the eyes of the entire globe. The tournament format features two groups:
The group phase will be followed by the Super Four matches between September 20 and 26, with the grand final on September 28 in Dubai at 6:30 PM local time.
The reorganised timings will lead to fans in Asia and other parts of the world having a better experience in matches, and the teams will have a better time in the UAE with improved weather in the evenings.
