Zimbabwe’s women cricket team is set to face UAE in a six-match series This tour is coming at such a crucial juncture. But for Zimbabwe Women, the visit of UAE offers more than just six games of cricket. It is a chance to sharpen skills, test combinations, and build on the confidence from their recent qualifier triumph.

The series begins on September 26 with the first ODI at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo. Before that, UAE will face Zimbabwe ‘A’ in a warm-up clash on September 24 at Bulawayo Athletic Club. Four ODIs will be followed by two T20Is, wrapping up on October 6.

Earlier this year Zimbabwe Women faced defeat against Ireland Women. And this is Zimbabwe’s first international assignment since their impressive run at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier in Namibia, where they sealed top spot and punched their ticket to the Global Qualifier in Nepal next year. That victory sparked optimism. Now the team must keep the fire burning.

Head coach Walter Chawaguta made it clear how much is riding on this visit. “The UAE series is very important to us. It gives us momentum heading into the Global Qualifier and also lets us test players returning from injury,” he said. His words carried the weight of expectation, but also belief.

The opponents will not make life easy. UAE Women have quietly built a reputation as a disciplined, improving side with reliable batters and sharp new-ball bowlers. Fans will remember their spirited showing at regional events, and now they arrive in Zimbabwe with points to prove.

The setting adds to the intrigue. Bulawayo’s Queens Sports Club has witnessed some historic contests, and the locals are eager for more. If Zimbabwe can carry their qualifier form into this series, they may head into 2026 brimming with confidence. But one collapse or one inspired spell from the visitors could swing the mood quickly.

The stakes feel higher than just six fixtures. Every run and every wicket is a step toward Nepal. Both camps know it. And that makes this contest more than just another bilateral.
