PESHAWAR – The exhibition match between Peshawar Zalmi and Legends XI at the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium was a nostalgic and action-packed contest at the same time, as Peshawar Zalmi managed their nerves to win the flood relief match by only six runs.

With a target of 145, Legends XI ended on 138-6 in 15 overs, so very close yet out of reach after a magnificent fightback by former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq.

Early Trouble for Legends XI

The pursuit began as if it were a disaster to the Legends because the team was brought down to 6-3 within three overs, which left the crowd surprised. There was a short respite by Azhar Ali and Humayun Farhat, who contributed 29 runs, but both were soon removed, returning Zalmi to the lead.

Inzamam Leads the Charge

Then it was time when the stadium flashed into light, Inzamam-ul-Haq back to his youth. The old hitter displayed his usual timing and ability to stay calm in pressure situations, and first built a stand with Arif, and then had a vital 50-run partnership with Azhar Mehmood.

As the needed rate increased, the two teams strained in the final overs, making the game alive. But with 22 to get off the final over the Legends XI could not make it through.

  • Inzamam-ul-Haq remained unbeaten on 46 off 23 balls.

  • Azhar Mehmood smashed 34 off just 14 deliveries.

Zalmi Bowlers Deliver

For Zalmi, Mohammad Irfan, and skipper Babar Azam picked up two wickets each, while Salman Khan and Zulfiqar Babar chipped in with one apiece to tilt the match in their favor.

Cricket for a Cause

It was not merely a contest match; it had a purpose. The exhibition clash was organized under the slogan Khel Se Khidmat (Service Through Sports) to raise money to support flood relief and rehabilitation activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Cricketing legends such as Shahid Afridi, Younis Khan, Waqar Younis, and Shoaib Akhtar were seen on the field with the modern-day stars, which made it a memorable night for the noble cause.

Final Word

It was Zalmi in the end, but the epic knock by Inzamam and the togetherness that ensued in the event made the headlines. The charity match underscored how the sport of cricket still reaches out to the needy and offers hope to them even outside the field, with tapmad bringing fans closer to every memorable moment of the action.
