Wolverhampton Wanderers have paid a heartfelt tribute to Portuguese forward Diogo Jota, inducting him into the club’s Hall of Fame just weeks after his untimely death in a car accident on 3 July 2025.

The Hall of Fame, established in 2008 and overseen by a committee chaired by club legend John Richards, made a rare unanimous decision to honour Jota ahead of schedule—a testament to his impact both on and off the pitch. Richards described the moment as one filled with “sadness and disbelief,” acknowledging Jota’s “wonderful” contributions during Wolves’ 2017–18 promotion and early Premier League years.

Club director Matt Wild supported the move, emphasising Jota's humility and kindness, reinforcing that he “will be sorely missed by all of us”. Between 2017 and 2020, Jota scored 44 goals in 131 appearances, playing a key role in Wolves’ ascent and Europa League qualification.

Wolves plan to honour Jota and his brother Andre Silva during their final pre-season friendly against Celta Vigo, and again in the opening Premier League match against Manchester City.

This swift induction into the Hall of Fame not only highlights Jota’s technical brilliance but also celebrates his character—his humility, warmth, and legacy. As Wolves and the wider football community mourn, this gesture serves as a powerful reminder: Diogo Jota will forever be part of club lore.
