Why did Mere Humnasheen drama become so popular?

Why did Mere Humnasheen drama become so popular?

Popular Geo Television network programme Mere Humnasheen drama included a sizable cast and an original plot. Meher Bano, Hiba Bukhari, Shahzad Sheikh, Syed Jibran, Haris Waheed, Normal Khalid, and Ahsan Khan were among the cast members. Misbah Ali Syed wrote the script for the drama, which Ali Faizan directed. The plot emphasizes Pakhtoon tradition. Ahsan Khan's incredible acting and dialect made the drama popular, yet at first, it received criticism for its phony Pashto accent.

A unique storyline

Meray Humnasheen offers audiences the singular opportunity to witness a realistic story about a lady who struggles to become a doctor to serve the people in her neighborhood. The word "believable" has been adopted because most accounts of Pashtun women focus solely on their struggle to fit in with their tribal communities.

In this show, that is not the case. Khajista and the other women in the picture appear to be very secure in their social positions. They are already vocal. This is more about the fight for the freedom to become contributing members of society and the struggle of letting their wings soar.

As the narrative progresses, Hiba Bukhari's portrayal of Khajista reveals her desire to move to the city and pursue her dream of becoming the first female doctor in her village. By doing so, the women of her community would no longer have to rely on local hakeems for their medical needs.

Here comes her cousin and the prospective husband of her family, Darakzai (Ahsan Khan). Darakzai has recently graduated from the 10th grade and is not only uneducated but also uninterested in education. He doesn't like the thought of Khajista moving to the city to pursue her medical studies and living alone, as would be expected.

Syed Jibran, who plays Lala and is Darakzai's brother, overrides Darakzai's objections. Khajista's guardian was Lala after her father's death. Along with letting Khajista study in the city, he also takes care to prevent an early marriage between her and Darakzai.

Khajista encounters a group of people in the city who are extremely different from the ones she left behind at home, notably Dr. Hadi (Shehzad Sheikh). We witness Dr. Hadi's growing romantic interest in Khajista, which worries Dr Aima, who is Moomal Khalid's character and the lady his family wants him to marry.

Dr Hadi's parents, Salma Hassan as his mother and Farhan Ali Agha as his father, Dr Shehryar, both want him to wed Aima and oppose the concept of his getting hitched to someone from the underprivileged region of Swat.

As the narrative progresses, we witness Darakzai experiencing a slight change of heart and desiring to behave differently for Khajista. Khajista also exhibits some internal struggle as she admires the qualities of Dr. Hadi but is not drawn to him. She is aware of the character defects in Darakzai, but she still feels something for him.

Performances of actors

The drama's performances are excellent overall. We are seeing Hiba Bukhari mature as an actress in both this series and Pehchan. Shehzad Sheikh has once again given a powerful performance that convinces the audience that he has mastered acting.

Ahsan Khan is a perfect fit for the role of Darakzai, although his acting seems to be a continuation of recent events. The excellent acting of Syed Jibran, Momina Iqbal, Farhan Ali Agha, Salma Hassan, and everyone else in the show contributes to the enjoyment of watching Meray Humnasheen.

The Pashto accent

The goal is to artificially thicken the accents of characters who belong to a certain ethnic group. For instance, Khajista and Darakzai may sound like caricatures due to their strong Pashtoon accents.

This is disrespectful to the characters they are portraying because the accent might occasionally detract from the dialogue they are trying to deliver. Syed Jibran, who has Pashtoon ancestry, is the only individual who constantly pulls off the accent, on the other hand.

An example of how Pashtoons are stereotyped is by their excessive display and use of weapons. especially if the story is situated in a real region of Pakistan rather than a made-up town.

If the setting had been a made-up town, as it was in Sang e Mah, this issue could have been resolved with ease. A location or an ethnic community gets a bad reputation when it is stereotyped. Swat, for example, has one of Pakistan's highest rates of literacy and a thriving tourism sector.

Wrapping up

Mere Humnasheen drama, produced by 7th Sky Entertainment, is one of the most-watched television programmes right now. Due to its distinctive material, which both fans and critics admired, the drama series attracted significant TRPs and YouTube views. Despite playing a negative role unanimous applause is being given to Ahsan Khan, aka Darakhzai, who is without a doubt the show's star.
