Bayern Denied Victory as Viking Stage Impressive Fightback in Thrilling Champions League Clash

Harry Kane continued his impressive Champions League run by scoring for the ninth game in a row, but Bayern Munich still failed to take all three points against Viking. The England captain found the net twice, yet his side had to settle for a 3-3 draw after Viking struck in the final minutes.

Talking about the start, Viking needed just over a minute to open the scoring, with Gianni Stensness heading Zlatko Tripic’s corner into the net. After conceding the first strike, Bayern tried to hit back straight away, but goalkeeper Arild Ostbo kept out efforts from Michael Olise and Luis Diaz to protect Viking’s lead.

The hosts did not let Bayern’s attacking pressure force them into a defensive shell. Instead, they looked to catch the visitors out whenever they had a chance to move forward. That tactic brought another reward before half-time. Viking moved quickly through the Bayern defence in the 38th minute, allowing Peter Christiansen to get through on goal and beat Jonas Urbig with a calm finish. The goal put Viking 2-0 ahead and left Bayern facing an unexpected uphill battle at the break.

The German giants came out with a different approach after the break, and Kane soon got them back into the game. The striker made no mistake from the penalty spot in the 55th minute after Kristoffer Haugen brought down Konrad Laimer with a mistimed tackle. It was Kane’s 80th goal in UEFA club competitions, and he was not done yet. The England captain scored again soon after, meeting Joshua Kimmich’s cross with a header at the far post to bring Bayern level.

Kane then played a key role in putting Bayern ahead. He picked out Laimer with a clever pass into the box, and the Austrian set up Luis Diaz for a close-range finish. However, Bayern’s lead did not last long as Michael Olise was sent off after picking up two yellow cards in quick succession. The second booking came when he threw the ball into Zlatko Tripic’s face, leaving Bayern with 10 men on the field.

The suspension of Olise gave Viking fresh hope, and the hosts pushed forward in search of an equalizer. Their efforts paid off in the 90th minute when Herman Haugen headed Tripic’s cross into the net at the far post. The late goal sparked celebrations among the home fans, as Viking claimed their first point in the UCL league phase and stopped Bayern from making it two European wins in a row.
