Tottenham Hotspur’s coach, Igor Tudor, is hopeful that his side can proceed to the next stage of the UEFA Champions League despite a recent thrashing by Atletico Madrid. He admitted that the challenge to go forward is pretty big, but it is not impossible as the players are ready to give their all on the field to qualify ahead.
When asked whether Tottenham truly believes they can progress in the tournament or are simply trying to restore confidence, Tudor said it is currently a mix of both for the team.
"Both things, it is a game which we should play to pass (progress to next round). Our first thing is to stay in the league, but tomorrow is a big challenge to show we can do good things, that they are not better than us.” said Tottenham Hotspur’s coach, Igor Tudor.
He then urged his team to stay in the present and focus on their strengths, as proceeding to the next round is not an impossible task.
"It is difficult but not impossible. We need to stay in the game, focus on our strengths. Everything is still to play for, believing we can do it is the important thing from the start." said Igor Tudor while talking to the reporters.
Additionally, the Croatian manager gave an update on defender Cristian Romero and midfielder Conor Gallagher, who suffered a disturbing on-field clash with teammate Joao Palhinha during the first game against Atletico Madrid.
"We see today what we can do (about Gallagher). He has asthma problems, maybe some virus, it is not a nice thing. We will see tomorrow if he is fit for the bench," said Igor Tudor.
"Joao is a no, Destiny (Udogie) and Lucas (Bergvall) will be on the bench, but not part of the game too much as they have just come back to us. Cristian Romero is there, he can play." concluded Igor Tudor.
