England Women have named their 15-player squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against India, scheduled from 16 to 22 July, welcoming back left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone following her recovery from injury.

Ecclestone missed the women’s series in the West Indies due to a minor knee injury but has since made her way back into the T20I lineup. In addition to her inclusion, Maia Bouchier has earned a recall after impressing as a T20I substitute.

Captain Nat Sciver‑Brunt, who withdrew mid‑T20I series due to a groin issue, will also return as skipper for the ODI leg. As a result, spinner Sarah Glenn has been omitted to make room for Ecclestone’s return.

England Women’s ODI squad: Nat Sciver-Brunt (c), Em Arlott, Tammy Beaumont, Lauren Bell, Maia Bouchier, Alice Capsey, Kate Cross, Alice Davidson‑Richards, Charlie Dean, Sophia Dunkley, Sophie Ecclestone, Lauren Filer, Amy Jones, Emma Lamb, Linsey Smith.

  • England recently secured a 3–0 ODI series sweep over West Indies, with strong contributions from Nat Sciver‑Brunt, Amy Jones, and spinner Sarah Glenn.

  • The inclusion of Ecclestone reinforces England’s spin depth ahead of the series, featuring ODIs at the Rose Bowl, Lord’s, and Chester-le-Street.

Head coach Charlotte Edwards welcomed the squad’s continuity, stating: “The squad has largely stayed the same … Sophie [Ecclestone] comes back into the side … This series is perfect preparation for the ICC Women’s World Cup”.

Edwards emphasised that Ecclestone’s return brings critical variety to the attack, with a healthy competitive environment for places in the lead-up to the World Cup.

Sophie Ecclestone's return adds both experience and tactical balance to England’s bowling unit. With Sciver‑Brunt back alongside a largely stable squad, England present a clear and confident selection ahead of a pivotal ODI series that will test their World Cup credentials.
