The recurring fan disturbances during past Pakistan vs. Afghanistan matches, authorities have unveiled strict security measures for the upcoming T20I tri-series. The series runs from 29 August to 7 September 2025 at Sharjah, serving as preparation for the T20 Asia Cup.

Key Measures Implemented

  • Pakistani and Afghan fans will enter the stadium through different gates and be seated in segregated enclosures.

  • Tickets will be region-locked so that fans of the specific country are offered tickets to their respective enclosures.

  • Security teams will be placed throughout the venue. There is a strict no-mingling policy enforced to maintain order during the fixtures .

During the 2022 Asia Cup in Sharjah, excessive crowd trouble erupted after a dramatic Pakistan win, leading to fines and security crackdowns the next day.

Previous encounters—including at the 2019 World Cup—saw similar incidents between both sets of supporters, prompting concerns about fan behavior.

The measures will be in effect throughout the Pakistan vs Afghanistan encounters on 29 August and 2 September, as well as potential matchups in the final on 7 September. With a 16,000-seat capacity, Sharjah Stadium is expected to fill completely, especially during the high-profile clash

These measures demonstrate the UAE authorities’ proactive stance in handling sensitive fan dynamics—and aim to uphold the spirit of cricket while protecting safety and enjoyment.
